The DC800 is proudly built in the USA at Carvin's Custom Shop in San Diego, California. The DC800 is equipped with active electronics that provide tonal variety, suitable for a wide range of playing styles. Controls are simplified and consist of a master volume and passive tone control with a 3-way lever-style pickup selector.

The distinctive feature of the DC800 is Carvin's new direct-mount A80 humbucking pickups, which produce clear mids and highs with an aggressive growl in the lower audio spectrum.

You can upgrade the standard chrome hardware to black or gold. The Sperzel locking tuners will ensure you will stay in tune no matter what your playing style is. This is a fully adjustable bridge for detailed height and intonation adjustments, and is designed to provide sustain. Carvin also takes prides in its "Rapid Play" low action neck profile.Ī new 8-string hardtail bridge with strings fed through the body comes standard with DC800. You can even select your preferred fret size, and inlay designs. Like the body and neck, you can choose which type of wood you prefer for the fingerboard, from rosewood, maple, birdseye maple or flamed maple fingerboards. It has a semi-flat 20" radius and is mounted with 24 medium-jumbo nickel frets. The DC800 features a standard 27" extended scale ebony fingerboard sprinkled with white pearl dot inlays. The DC800 sports a new 4 X 4 pointed headstock, which adds to the aggressive looks and it features a straight string-pull design, which helps reduce string breakage. It comes equipped with Carvin's dual-action, fully adjustable truss rod. You can also go for a 5 piece wood combination neck for better looks and personalized tone.

Maple neck is the most common choice because it brings about a clear tone, you are however free to choose from other neck woods such as mahogany and koa which has their own slightly warmer tonal qualities. Since alder is slightly darker in color than maple, the body accentuates the maple neck of the DC800.
